General Ideas

Principle

  • Inspired by command and conquer, tower defense and geometry wars
  • Two-dimensional
  • Small and quick matches
  • Building defense systems
  • Player is part of attack waves
  • Bonus system that encourages to play in an offensive way (attacking with movable units gives bonus, recruiting units consumes bonus)

Game Modes

  • Single matches
  • Singleplayer against AI
  • Multiplayer over network (P2P / C2S?)

Controlling Units

  • Commanding command and conquer style
  • Directly (both for attacks and for defense)
  • Units can be grouped and controlled collectively

Units

  • Idea: Only one unit type that can be used (specialized?) in different ways
  • Can be expanded to a building (defense tower?)
  • Can be upgraded

Level

  • 2D Blocks
  • Randomly generated
  • Add bevels for smoother appearance

Technical details

Engine

  • Self-written - we will see how fancy we can get the game with that

Graphics

  • Procedural
  • Particle Effects
  • Should deliver action feeling (shaking, explosions)

Sound

  • Not important yet.
