I don't recognize this icon, what is it?
- 95% of the time it is a trinket or the mage water elemental pet spell Freeze
- You can pause Hekili with
alt-shift-pand mouseover the recommendation to see the name of it. Don't forget to unpause (using the same keybind).
I feel like X Spec damage is low, anyone else?
Before posting in Discord or a Github issue, ask yourself these questions:
- Did you read this FAQ and the Configuration Guide?
- Are your cooldowns enabled?
- Are you running a custom priority?
- Do you actually have gear?
- Do you have logs, details meters, snapshots?
If you answered yes to all of these, ask in our discord!
My cooldowns or trinkets don't show up!
You probably have your cooldowns disabled, as this is the default setting.
- Try enabling them with one of the following methods
- The toggle hotkey (
alt-shift-rby default) - Right click the minimap icon for Hekili and select the cooldowns from there

The rotation is wrong!
If you think there is an issue with the rotation, you should do the following
- Visit Report an issue
- Submit a ticket with references to Sims, class guides, logs, snapshots, etc, and explain what exactly the issue is
- Instead of trying to fix it for yourself via custom priority, submitting a ticket will get it fixed for everyone as well as ensure peer review. There are a lot of skilled and knowledgeable players in the discord of many specs/classes.
The addon doesn't tell me how to heal people!
This addon is to help you do max damage as a healer during downtime or world content. Not to help you heal.
The addon isn't working very well while levelling
The addon is not intended for lower levels. It may or may not work with a great deal of variance between specs/classes.
How do I reset my spec / APL / Profile
Does X dps spec work good?
YesExcept maybe Fire Mage. See the Spec tier list for more thoughts, but don't put too much weight into it. Play what you want to play.
Fire mage bad??
Fire Mage presents a unique problem for the addon to solve. Fire Mages can cast Fire Blast while casting other spells, and need to react quickly to critical strike streaks (for Heating Up and Hot Streak). Regarding casting while casting, this means that some of the shortcuts the addon takes for other classes are not available, because we have to potentially time a Fire Blast based on when a critical strike is anticipated to happen during your current cast.
This addon will predict guaranteed critical strikes, but most are not guaranteed, so all the addon (and you, yourself) can do is react once the critical strikes occur. This can cause recommendations to change suddenly when your Fireball or Pyroblast or other projectile spells impact your target and crit.
Because of this volatility, showing a large number (4+) of recommendations is counterproductive as your Hot Streak is likely to have changed within 2 or 3 GCDs under most circumstances. You may find the addon more efficient by downgrading your Primary display to show 1 or 2 suggestions.
Another trick that can help with managing Fire Blast is to put Fire Blast on one of the main toggles (/hek > Abilities > Fire Blast > Require Toggle: Cooldowns, Interrupts, or Defensives). Assuming you selected Interrupts, you can set the Interrupts to Show Separately (/hek > Toggles), then Fire Blast will pop-up in that display instead of refreshing inside the Primary display. This adds some stability to recommendations.
My keybinds aren't showing up correctly
Keybind detection relies on action bars being configured similar to Blizzard defaults. That means if you have used action bar pages in a strange order, have abilities duplicated on hidden bars, or even use a bar addon that is not supported, the addon may not detect the correct keybinding. There is currently a Blizzard issue with macro detection that often impacts keybinding detection.
- Reset your actionbars

/hek>Abilitiesand set Override Keybind Text to the correct keybind to be displayed.
How do I change the icon for a spell
In the addon, Navigate to the Abilities page, select the ability from the dropdown, and mouseover the Icon Replacement box for instructions.
What's up with Spellflash?
SpellFlash is a separate addon that has another owner and maintainer. It is included in this addon because of the popularity of its functionality, but I am at the mercy of that project's owners with regard to how well its functionality works. When Blizzard makes a breaking update, such as breaking macro detection, then SpellFlash may stop flashing on macros. When that happens, then we must wait for SpellFlash to update and resolve the problem.
Can I modify the Spellflash Texture?
SpellFlash sets up a single texture per action button, so this addon can allow you to pick the flash texture for all displays, but all displays will share that same texture. If you need to distinguish display flashes from one another, you can use texture size or color to make that distinction.

How do I make a specific opener?
You don't want to, as it could cause a lot of issues. What if a certain ability is missed? What if someone pulls the boss early? The addon is based on action priority lists, just like the sims. However, if you are determined to do so you can refer to
Will you support Vanilla Classic, SoM, SoD?
Just use a weakaura pack or TellMeWhen, support for these game versions is not planned with this addon.
Wrath Classic?
Yes, this addon works with WoTLK! Support isn't as thorough, but there are community members helping to keep things up to date. Check out the #wrath-classic channel in our Discord.
PTR When?
This addon lives downstream of both the World of Warcraft game client and SimulationCraft, which is used by class/specialization theorycrafters to verify the optimal action priorities used for each specialization. Essentially, the addon must be configured to emulate the actual game and have action priority lists available for each specialization before it is truly useful on a PTR realm. Since there are frequently multiple waves of changes on the PTR realms, both SimulationCraft and Hekili tend to wait a bit to make major changes. This keeps both projects from completing a lot of throwaway development and testing work that is often replaced at the last minute.
Once the PTR and SimulationCraft have stabilized a bit, the addon tends to update within a day or two. This is true for the live game as well as the PTR. It's typical that the addon will need to update frequently after a major patch as hotfixes and simulation updates also occur at the same time.
I downgraded to fix an issue, what now?
If people downgrade, they should no longer need to reset priority packs. It will revert whenever the stored pack's version doesn't match the existing pack.
Addon CPU Usage says Hekili is using 60% of my CPU!
Hekili may use 60% of the total CPU time your addons are using, but it isn't using 60% of your CPU. The addon does require higher CPU usage compared to other, more passive addons. You can reduce the number of icons displayed to reduce the addon's workload, or increase the in-combat update period, but beyond that if the addon impacts your performance adversely you should not use it.
Automation / Clickable weakaura?
The developer of this addon has not, does not and will not support any form of automation/botting in World of Warcraft. Discussion of the sort is strictly prohibited in our community.
