Enterococcus faecium is a multiresistant bacteria causing infections such as in urinary tract and bloodstream. It is opportunistic and therefore often found in hospitals. In this study we aim to investigate which genes are responsible for growth in human serum to find potential targets for treatment drugs as in the article. (Zhang et al. 2017) To do this we need to assemble a representative genome of the bacteria and then compare the RNA expression of bacteria grown in human serum at body temperature to bacteria grown in optimal medium.
