Alex Guy - Heathage/CluckCollective GitHub Wiki

Who is he?

He talks to the player while they are in the warehouse and guides them out of it.

He is an ordinary worker who was against Condo’s practises (e.g. working conditions, lack of paid leave, stance on climate change etc.).

He currently wants to escape where he is trapped, but is unable to. His long-term goal is to make Condo change how it treats its workers.

Purpose in story

He is located in the Warehouse (trapped?) and speaks to the player through Rosas (totally not Alexas). He has a similar role to Glados and Wheatly in the Portal games (character talking to the player that they cannot see) however, he guides the player as opposed to being an obstacle for them.

He informs the player of some secret inner-working things at Condo and that he was planning to do something about it. (e.g. planning a rebellion) When doing this, he would inform the player of the offices, the next area in the game.

He dies a sad and tragic death as the player leaves/escapes the warehouse.

Backstory

He worked at Condo, near/at the bottom of the hierarchy within the company.

Opposed to Condo, has witnessed and is victim to their practices.

Rebelling against Condo?

(The player needs to care about him for his death to have impact)

Opposed to Condo (similar to the player’s goal in the game), was planning a rebellion with other workers within Condo (‘passing the torch’). This would make his goal similar to the player’s final goal and, in theory, more relatable as such.

Personality

He starts off being relieved that he found someone, but also stressed as he is trapped.

He finds comfort in the player as they will try to rescue him. (A symbiotic relationship between him and the player as the player gives him hope and he guides the player around the warehouse).

Dialogue

These are currently just examples, they will be finalized at a later time.

Introduction:

This is the player's introduction to 'Alex Guy', he would be a friendly voice during the Warehouse section until his death. The goal here is twofold: have the player like (or at least not hate) him, and to give the player a short-term goal.

"Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? I hope it's not the crazy guy again. Oh, you're not him, that's fantastic!  Hello there, I'm the voice coming out of the Rosa. Ok, I know this is a bit out of the blue, but I'm kind of stuck here. The manager was meant to let me out before everyone left, but I think you can tell that didn't happen. I know you're a complete stranger, but I would owe you the world if you could get me out of here."

This dialogue is Alex discussing his plan with the player. This is the long-term goal of the game.

"You know, you don't seem that fond of Condo. Don't worry, neither am I. In fact, not many people who work here are. I'm telling you this because we have a bit of a… radical plan. We have most of the pieces in place, we just need someone who can make their way up the building, preferably without being seen. You see where I'm going with this, don't you? If you could get up to the Condo offices and tinker with the machines up there, you might just be able to sort out the messed up people up top."

Bark Lines

A bark line random bark line would play for the appropriate action. If this is too repetitive, then there could be a chance for one to play when it happens.

Player fails to hack:

“That’s a shame.” “Why don’t you give it another try?” “It’s alright, you can try again.” “That sucks, but it happens sometimes.” “Just take a breath and give it another go.”

Player successfully hacks:

“You seem to know what you’re doing.” “Nice, you did well.” “Good going, keep it up.” “You made that look easy.” “I know who to call when I need to hack into anywhere.”

Player is noticed by security:

“Run run run run run!” “Just get out of there!” “Quick! Hide!” “Oh no, don’t get caught.” “”

Player escapes from security:

“That was a close call there, eh?” “Lets try and not have that happen again.” “I think you’re safe now.” “They can’t see you, now you can breath.” “”

Player is near security (within the ring but not the field of view?):

“You might want to watch your step around here.” “Try not to make a sound here, you might get caught.” “Be careful now.” “Sshhh, they’re close.” “”
