Before you can use an Aura node, you must find an uncommon flower called an Aura Flower. Steps for the Aura Summoning ritual :

1. Break the flower (This will spawn an inactive node)

2. Perform the ritual (More about this below)

3. The node becomes active and usable!

Another idea is that the flower can be the node.

Ritual

to perform the ritual you must place glowstone on the horizontally (x and y) adjacent spaces. To complete the ritual, simply right-click on the inactive node with a diamond.
