World Layout from Hyper Light Drifter (Would apply for the “Full Game”). Linear sections in which each puzzle is followed by the next one. When the player is “stuck” in a section they can easily go back to the hub and make progress down another path.
The world will be built on a 1m x 1m grid, using blocks of the same size and height. Some liberties will be taken with decorative environmental assets. This grid will be aligned to the World coordinates, as shown in the image below.
However, to create more interesting looking scenarios, the camera will be pivoted 45° degrees around the player as shown in the image below.
If verticality is included in the level layers that are at a higher elevation must not get between the camera and the player. To mitigate the risk of this happening higher levels will be built on the opposite side of the player compared to where the camera is.
The world has been left "unfinished" by the developers. To evoke that idea, some areas of the game will have a flat white texture expanding through multiple objects
