Growthcraft Bamboo is a mod which adds a new plant to the game: bamboos, which focuses on construction rather food.

Farming

Wild bamboo clumps are found randomly in the world. Alongside the tall but thin bamboo are small and violet bamboo shoots. These bamboo shoots can be gathered to be planted elsewhere for domestication. Other than random bamboo clumps, there is also a Bamboo Forest biome full of bamboos.

The bamboo shoots  serves as the 'sapling' of the bamboo tree. It has a 12.5% chance to grow into a bamboo tree every random tick provided that it is well lit (through artificial or natural means) and has enough space (3x3) to grow on. Bamboo trees are very tall but thin trees. They can grow from 12 to 14 blocks high.

Bamboo leaves is a different kind of leaf block. Unlike a normal tree leaf block, bamboo leaves don't drop bamboo shoots. Instead, bamboo shoots are spawned randomly by the 'root' or the bottom-most part of the tree. The root stalk of the tree will randomly spawn a bamboo shoot in a 7x2x7 area if there are less then 7 bamboo shoots and bamboo tree in that area.

Bonemeal can be applied to a root stalk to instantly spawn a bamboo shoot or to a bamboo shoot to instantly (chanced) grow it into a bamboo tree.

Bamboo shoots can be eaten for 2 x .

Crafting

Bamboo is involved into many crafting recipes. In addition to the following recipes, bamboo stuffs can be used as a substitute for wood in other crafting recipes (ie. bamboo (item) as sticks). They can also serve as fuels.
