How To Install Dragon's Dogamma for Dragon's Dogma 2 - Grokitach/Dragons-Dogamma GitHub Wiki

dogamma

Preparation

0) Create a folder likeso to get everything tightly organised, Don't use a folder within your Downloads, Program Files, Desktop or One Drive Documents folders: C:\Dogamma\Mods, C:\Dogamma\Modmanager

image

1) Get the modlist from Nexus mods by downloading each mod individually (automation will come later, if possible). It is recommended to store all the archives in a single folder, for instance C:\Dogamma\Mods, DO NOT EXTRACT THE MODS: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vFs5EXxG8DO3hHJ1-HMKkhpcYMaq551pe6m77ocgW3Y/edit?usp=sharing

image

2) Get Fluffy Mod Manager archive and store it in C:\Dogamma\Modmanager https://fluffyquack.com/tools/modmanager.zip

image

3) Install Dragon's Dogma 2 (from Steam for instance). It should usually be in a folder such as F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2. Remember this path as you will need it (keep the folder open probably).

Installation

1) Go to the C:\Dogamma\Modmanager folder and extract the modmanager.zip archive.

image

2) Double click on Modmanager.exe

image

3) The modmanager tells you to choose a game, select Dragon's Dogma 2 in the list.

image

4) Then click on Choose game folder on the right (in red) and click on Choose the game's executable.

image

/!\ It is possible that the modmanager finds the game automatically, in which case you will not have to do this and should already have a DD2 background in the window. Go to step 6.

5) Select the DD2.exe in your Dragon's Dogma 2 install folder, such as F:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2 or C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2.

image

6) In the modmanager window, click on Modlist.

image

7) Open your C:\Dogamma\Mods folder. Select all mods archives and Drag and drop all of them to the mod manager window.

image

Alternatively if you don't like drag and dropping, go to the `C:\Dogamma\Modmanager\Games\DragonsDogma2\Mods` folder and copy all the downloaded mods in this folder. Then click on `Refresh mod list` in the modmanager window.

8) In the modmanager window, tick all the mods (the squares should all be white).

image

9) In the modmanager window, click Launch Game. Dragon's Dogma 2 starts.

image

If no pop-up window entitled REFramework [v1.5.9.1+...] is visible in game, you did something wrong in the previous steps. 1.5.6 version is known to have issues and should not be used.

10) In game, on the gray RE Framework window, click on LooseFilesLoader menu, and tick Enable Loose File Loader. Let the game run for 30 seconds. Close the REFramework window. Then close the game.

image

11) In Fluffy mod manager click on Launch game.

image

12) To verify that the installation is finished, within the REFramework window in game, you should be able to open Script Generated UI > Custom Difficulty Tweaks > Preset Save/Load > see dogamma under "Available backups".

image

Also, the LooseFileLoader menu should display a big number for the "Loose files loaded" stat:

13) You are ready to play, remember to make a shortcut of the C:\Dogamma\Modmanager\modmanager.exe on the desktop as this is what you'll need to use to launch Dragon's Dogamma. You can press the Insert key to turn the in game REFramework windows On/Off. The “endgroup()” errors in the REFramework UI is not an issue and is expected with the version 1.5.9.1.

Troubleshooting

  • If the game closes as soon as it starts, try disabling the « No Intro » mod. Also remove the following DLL files from the Dragon’s Dogma 2 folder: openvr_api.dll and _loader.dll

  • If the game throws a runtime error at startup, try disabling the « Quality Water » mod.

  • If traders sell weapons and armors, make sure you have REFramework 1.5.9.1 (available in the modlist spreadsheet), LooseFileLoader is turned on, and Wild Loot mod is turned off. Make sure to turn on Dogamma last in the mod manager.

  • A new game is recommended but not required.

  • The mods should not modify your pawn in illegal ways, meaning it should still be legit and not soft banned on Capcom servers.

Updating mods

1) To update a mod, simply download the updated archive. Disable the old version of the mod in the mod manager. Go to C:\Dogamma\Modmanager\Games\Dragon's Dogma 2\Mods and delete the archive of the old version of the mod. Drag and drop the newly downloaded and up-to-date archive on the modmanager window. Click refresh mods. Enable the new version of the mod in the modlist. Make sure to turn Dogamma on last.

2) When updating Dogamma, you’ll loose the tweaks you made in the REFramework menu for the different mods. You can do the following to save your personal changes.

Keep in mind that any changes done in Dogamma updates to the mods configs will be lost when doing this, so it is perhaps better to note down the changes you made and reimplement them manually in the REFramework window in game after updating Dogamma.

If you want to keep your changes be sure to backup them by going into your game folder: Dragon’s Dogma 2\reframework and copy the data folder somewhere. Update Dogamma through the modmanager as described above in step 1 and paste the backed up data folder.

Save Management

Dragon's Dogma 2 only allow a single save at a given time. If you want to have multiple saves with multiple characters, you can use the DD2 Save Manager tool: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/52

New Game or New Game+?

Dogamma is designed mainly for a New Game experience. However since v1.8.3 a New Game Plus preset is available under Custom Difficulty Tweaks presets, select it within the REFramework window and click on "load backup". It makes enemies having twice more health and deal almost triple the damage as well as having a higher stagger resistance. Considering the new tools to empower your character, NG+ should remain somewhat challenging with these settings.
