GIMP Plugin Faves - GreycLab/gmic-community GitHub Wiki
The G'MIC for GIMP plug-in allows you to save personal favourites and give them names.
see picture
The 'Faves' button is either a "star" or a "plus" depending whether you've selected a filter.
You can use this for:
Remembering Filters
- Faves are like a bookmark. The plug-in menu contains many filters arranged in folders, so by putting the commonly used ones into 'Faves' makes them quicker to access and easier to find.
INSTRUCTIONS
-
select the filter
-
choose the settings
-
press the add button .. (+) see red arrow in picture
-
double click to rename it
- Once you create a Fave it appears in the top folder .. see blue arrow in picture
Favourite Pre-sets
- GIMP will only remember one set of "last-used" values for a single plug-in. This means it would forget the pre-sets for a particular filter inside G'MIC once you select a different one. Faves are different, they are permanently stored in your personal folder and will not be re-set by GIMP even with "Reset All Filters".
e.g. You an keep multiple pre-sets for the same Filter function and given them different names.
Sharing Settings
- The Fave information is stored in a simple text file, 'gmic_faves' in the User's personal directory. Copying that file could be used to share such pre-sets or you may want to delete it if this becomes corrupted. If you have read this far you probably want to look at making your own custom code [How to create a custom filter in the G’mic plug-in] tutorial by Zonderr.
