Ingredients
- 1lb chicken breast (boneless, skinless)
- 12 oz chow mein noodles (uncooked) or 1lb cooked chow mein noodles
- 2 cups of cabbage
- 1 large carrot
- 1/2 batch green onions
- 2 garlic cloves
Optional: - bean sprouts
chow mein sauce
- 6 tbsp oyster sauce
- 3 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
Instructions
Much like stir fry, most of the steps are parallelizable and then everything is combined at the end
Order independent and parallelizable steps
Make chow mein sauce
- Combine oyster sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, chicken broth, granulated sugar, and corn starch and whisk together
Chop veggies
- Julienne the carrot
- Cut the cabbage to small strips
- Combine carrots, cabbage, and any other veggies
- Might as well chop the green onions now too, don't combine with other veggies
Make chow mein noodles
- Follow instructions on package
Non paralellizable steps
- Cut chicken into bite size strips
- Heat pan with oil over medium heat.
- Cook chicken in the oil until golden brown
- Remove chicken from heat
- Cook veggies in chicken flavored oil for a few minutes (until soft, cabbage should be slightly translucent)
- Add cooked chicken, noodles, and sauce to pan. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions. Optional: also bean sprouts
