Precautions and Warnings - GrechTech/RetroRosetta GitHub Wiki

  • Documentation is provided as guidance only and should not be followed blindly as to the function or consequence of any connections made by the user.
  • Always power off the unit before rewiring. Never disconnect any wires or controller ports while the unit is powered on.
  • Ensure no frayed wire strands that may be protruding from the female dupont headers with DIY cables are in contact with any other conductors.
  • After rewiring, it is recommended to use a multi-meter to perform a continuity check between pins for shorts prior to powering the unit on.
  • Never connect a Ground wire to a pin that is outlined and given a tail in the RetroRosetta IO diagram. An example is shown immediately below.
    Positive power pins
  • Never connect a Power wire to a pin that is highlighted in Blue and has no outline in the RetroRosetta IO diagram.
  • Only ever place jumper caps in the orientation shown in diagrams (Horizontal/tangential to the longest dimension of the board). Placing jumper caps vertically (across the longest dimension of the board) is not required for any configuration, and introduces a risk of shorting GND and power.
  • Only ever place wires in the positions shown in diagrams, taking particular care with any wires placed on any A, C or D columns of pins. Double check wires are correct before powering the unit on.
  • During certain system modes the unit can get warm, ensure the unit is properly ventilated, never left in direct sunlight while in use, is not left near heat exhausts or on top of warm surfaces (Including some consoles) and not left in direct contact with any flammable materials.
  • Keep the unit dry and away from moisture.
  • Do not use the unit with moist, damp or wet hands or gloves.
  • Typically, BlueRetro expects all cables should be plugged into the console during use, if you wish to plug in fewer cables than you have connected (Eg you have 4 cables connected to the RetroRosetta, but you are also using a standard controller with the console, so can only plug 3 in), and you are facing issues, remove the cable and follow the relevant guide for the new pin/jumper setup for your number of connections/players.
