Proposal Making MVP: Q3 2019 - GraceRachmany/VOH GitHub Wiki
Nofork Proposal Making
Based on the state of the developments in the on-chain and decentralized governance movements, Voice of Humanity is currently (October 2019) looking to develop an app for optimal proposal-making in NoFork situations. (Please use the Nofork hashtag freely.)
Many of the greatest challenges facing humanity, and the greatest failings of our current governing systems, are “no fork situations”, in other words, situations where people can’t opt out or where communities need to reach a consensus. For example, a factory may provide jobs, but also pollute the local water supply. The issue of how to regulate and zone the factory affects the entire community, whether they like it or not. In cases like this “majority rules” means that one sector of the population is benefiting at the expense of another. “Forking” (old residents leaving or new residents coming) affect the culture and social fabric of the community. It is our belief that communities can reach more balanced and sustainable solutions through a reliable, replicable means of collaborative proposal-making.
Similarly, within the realm of decentralized technologies, the blockchain community faces a variety of issues such as interoperability, industry standards, and global regulation (preferably self-imposed rather than created by outside forces). Similarly, these are “no fork” situations. Interoperability standards have different impacts on different players in the industry, so optimizing for standards that serve all of the players is important—ideally using a process that is relatively quick, efficient, and while maintains and strengthens social cohesion.
Self-Sovereign Identity
The first area we would like to address is the area of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSID) because of the importance of identity for any form of democracy or agency. We recommend everyone developing solutions in the area of Web3 view this video about how Web2 evolved into a corporate-dominated entity, based on failings in the area of identity standards.

Currently we are looking to get some of the central figures in the SSID community say they would agree to doing an MVP together with us, and then apply for funding to implement the MVP. The following document (work in progress, design of initial app in progress) represents a proposal to the SSID community.
