Crew Training
Note: This is a RP-1 addition.
Each of your astronaut will now have a retirement date. They are active for about 10 years. After having flown in an actual mission, they will have their retirement date pushed back a bit. Also, after each mission, they will have a few days/weeks of vacation time before beeing available again.
Unlike in previous versions of RP-0 and stock KSP, pilots needs proper training before they are allowed to fly in a real missions. In the RP-1 GUI, in the 'Training' tab you will see what training you can actually propose to your pilots. Each training is pod-specific; meaning if a pilot as been trained for the MK1/Mercury pod, he will not be allowed to use a MK2 pod before beeing trained for that one. To be able to fly with a pod, they first need to follow the 'proficiency' training for that pod. These trainings are very long (about 10 months for the first MK1 pod proficiency training!) do plan for it ahead! This training will teach them how this pod works. But before flying an actual mission, they will also need to be trained for that specific mission. For this, they need to follow a 'Mission' training for that pod. These trainings take a few weeks but have an expirency period, so do not train them for a mission 2 years in advance. When their mission is over, their 'Mission' training will be immediatly expired.
More details are visible for each pilot by clicking on their name in the 'Crew' tab of the RP-1 GUI.
