IMPORTANT: The art used in all the examples of displays is not the one we will use in the game
Cursed Heaven is an isometric dungeon crawler game that uses the Final Fantasy art style adapted to our new mechanics and plot. It is a dynamic game of dungeon exploration and combat that can be replayed several times to complete the 100% of the quests. It will take 20/25 minutes to complete the main quest.
The player will have to do different strategies for every character he chooses, think new strategies every time and adapt to the environment. When the main story is over, the player will be able to replay the maps to complete secondary quests and upgrade its character.
Our hero, Uriel, the story takes place in the remote kingdom of Bishopcastle. He is a subordinate of the kingdom army captain. He fought and won many battles. But one year, the blue bane appeared a strange disease that killed almost everybody. Uriel was one of the fallen. But, luckily, Bishopcastle people don't stop existing when they die. Their energy materializes in Angelica, the Heaven Reign.
When Uriel enters the lower level of Angelica, a strange old man approaches him and hands him a red stone surrounded by fire. He tells him that this stone is the heart of the Heaven reign and the fact that it's missing is causing trouble in Bishopcastle and in Angelica. The only option to save the world is to place the stone in the city king throne. The old man complains that he is too old to take care of that mission so Uriel accepts it.
With that, a journey to the capital city of Angelica begins. The dead hero has to face numberless monsters and demons while he ascends but finally, he gets to his goal. When he enters the throne room, he sees a familiar silhouette, the old man who entrusted him the mission of saving the world. When he removes his hood and reveals his face, Uriel realizes who that man is. He is Exodus, the demon king, who for centuries have been trying to conquer Heaven. To do so, he needed to destroy the Heart of the Realm that his minions had stolen for him in the throne room. But he couldn't get it there himself so he tricked Uriel to do so. When the hero finds out, a fierce combat starts and Uriel is victorious, saving the destiny of the world. But there still are some monsters around Heaven so he is sent by the King to kill them all.
- Dungeon exploration: the main pillar of the game is dungeon exploration, finding items, defeating enemies, completing quests...
- Real-time combat: in this game, we have fast, frenetic combat. It is really important to dodge projectiles, move around enemies, using abilities, managing your mana resources...
- Replayability: even when the main plot is over, you can go back to the lower levels to complete quests and find hidden objects. Replaying the game will allow the player to upgrade the character beyond its' possibilities.

Every time a new dungeon floor is entered, the player appears in the floor starting room. From that room, there will be some bridges that connect to other islands. Each island will contain different enemies, items and secrets. Once the island is clear, new bridges will spawn to take the player to another island. The player can choose between finding the right path to the boss room or exploring everything. Once the boss room is found, the next game step starts. |

The boss fight takes place in the boss room of the level. Before entering the room, a chest will spawn with a reward for completing the dungeon part of the level. Then, the boss will spawn and attack the player with different attack patterns. Once the boss is defeated, the player will regenerate to full health and a portal to the overworld will appear. |

Entering the portal at the boss fight will take the character to the general map, where the shop can be entered. Inside it, the player has the possibility of buying and selling items to upgrade itself. When the main story is over, this map will be used to select the dungeon floor that will be entered. Here will also appear the old man that gives you quests. |
Fire Life Stone
The game main objective is to deliver the Fire Life Stone to the king of the Angelica, the Heavens' capital, to release the skies from the terrible curse that devastates it. To do so, you will have to carry it from the gates of heaven to the top and hand it over to the king. There are also minor objectives presented in the quest form. This will be randomly chosen from a quest pool and given to the player by an old mystery man.
The player will have to defeat the final boss of that dungeon, having the main goal to pass through all dungeons until he reaches the final boss in Angelica. Even though the player has completed a dungeon, the player can keep playing the dungeon to complete secondary side quests.
If the character life points get to 0, he will die and be teleported to the beginning of that level.
The gameplay of the game is based on exploration and combat.
Exploration
Exploration is the main core of this game so it has to be really well designed to make it enjoyable. Moving around and looking everywhere is really important. There are hidden chests and quests that encourage exploration. Completing the 100% of a level will allow you to earn more rewards to upgrade your character faster.
Combat
Combat is the other main core of the game and is really attached to exploration. Almost every room, there will be a certain amount of enemies you will have to defeat using your normal attack and character abilities. If you get hit by an enemy attack or you touch it, the character will lose some HP (health points). If your HP reaches 0, you die and have to restart the level you were playing. If you hit an enemy with a basic attack, you inflict him some damage and also knockback him a little. Character abilities are helpful in different ways to beat combats easily. In addition, at the end of every level, there is a boss fight. Bosses have specific attack patterns and huge amounts of life, damage, and resistance. If you defeat them, you will be fully healed and rewarded with a large sum of gold coins.
Law system
At de beginning of every level, the Law Master will appear and tell you a law to follow for that floor. If you break it, you will die, restarting the level. The law will be randomly choosen. In the tutorial floor, the law will be introduced in a more advanced stage of the level. The possible laws are:
| Law 1 | You can't use the Q ability |
|---|---|
| Law 2 | You can't use your E ability |
| Law 3 | You must have been in every room before entering the boss fight |
| Law 4 | You can't lose more than 50% health per room |

As there are a lot of character, enemies, stats, items... We need a really good game balancing to make it fair and challenging. To do so, every time one of the listed things above is implemented, we will test it in every possible situation. Then we will adjust the numbers to make it as we want them to be. When the final result pleases us, we will include it to the game.

First level general concept map, also used as a tutorial.

Second level map, more elaborated. Higher exploration possibilities and harder enemies.

Last full playable map, much harder enemies but higher rewards.

Final boss map. Only the last fight room.
The game tutorial will take place in the first level map, after the conversation with the mysterious old man. There are three linear rooms that will teach the player the main mechanics to play the game properly. The first room to learn movement mechanics, the second one for combat and abilities and the third one to introduce the dungeon exploration mechanic.
Controls below are the default ones, the player will have the option to reassign them the way he wants.
