Gameplay - Godlike/Project-A GitHub Wiki
In short, the project is an iterative mini-game driven nonlinear goal-focused progression
Iterative
- Each playthrough has a beginning and an end
- Player retains some progress across game sessions
- Mini-game driven
- Each player choice leads to some mini-game
- Mini-games do not have to be “mechanically different” from each other, they could be a version of the same game as long as “choices” seem meaningful and alter the gameplay (mini-game goals differ based on choices)
Nonlinear
- Player choices alter current playthrough storyline and capabilities
- Player may balance initial benefits/handicaps before initiating a playthrough
- Player may trigger events allowing to dramatically switch their current playthrough storyline if they don’t like where it’s going
Goal-focused
- There is a hard end goal for each playthrough
- There is a hard lose condition for each playthrough that pushes the player to progress
Progression
- New mini-games, storylines, etc that open based on what player encounters/does in playthroughs
- Lore
- Collectibles/unlockables
