Arduino Micro

The Arduino Micro was programmed to display "self love" messages on the LCD display using serial communication. The source code is found in the repository here.

Serial Enabled 16x2 LCD

The Serial LCD display makes it possible for users to view the "self love" messages that reside in the Arduino's non-volatile memory.

Minty Boost 5V USB Power Supply

I decided to order a Minty Boost to provide 5V for the Arduino Micro and LCD display. It will be assembled to the PCB already inside the enclosure. I plan on using double sided tape to hold the AA battery pack on one of the the bottom of the enclosure. The Minty Boost was the perfect addition to this project because AA batteries are quite commonplace so if the batteries ever go out, the chances are really good that the person that has it at the time will be able to quickly change the batteries and let the box continue it's voyage.

Enclosure

The Big Red Box was the enclosure I ended up selecting for the project. A couple reasons for this are that it seems to be quite durable and is weather proof. It should be pretty easy to cut out an area from it's top surface using a Dremel tool so the LCD screen can be viewed easily. Not to mention, there is a nice proto board that fits perfectly into the enclosure for mounting the Arduino Micro.
