Takeaways
-
Inverted product managers focus on preventing bad things from happening--more then making good things happen. Success is when nothing happens!
-
Bad actors are both intentional and un-intentional. But there is no question that bad actors are getting more sophisticated and more prolific with the advent of AI. The job of an inverted project manager is getting harder...
-
For inverted products, measuring success is both essential and uniquely challenging. Ideally you know your "invisible line" of existing bad outcomes and try to lower it. But like all data analytics, it is hard to definitively isolate the cause for a change. When talking with stakeholders, present your numbers and try to build a story to make sense of it.
-
Ethical considerations may impede your ability to set aside a control group. But if the harm is high, you may rollout a change widely to prevent this harm to even one person.
