Project Description

This wiki contains technical notes for TEI encoding of information about objects related to the material culture of writing in the Victorian era as set forth in the Official Descriptive and Illustrated Catalogue of the Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations, 1851, shortened in this work to Great Exhibition Catalogue. This project serves as part of work toward a Texas A&M University doctoral dissertation on the material culture of writing in the Victorian era by Ph.D. candidate Gia Alexander. Thus, the TEI encoding seeks to capture catalog listings and descriptions of the physical objects displayed at the Great Exhibition pertaining specifically to material writing practices primarily in England between 1837 and 1901. All feedback is welcome.
