Best Practices (dependent on Esri providing a sufficient number of credits to your institution).

• Set Default Credit Quota to make manually managing credits an exception

  • Set it high enough that most users can get all their work done._
  • Set it low enough that users who make mistakes don’t waste too much._

• Set Default Credit Quota as part of auto-provisioning new accounts

  • Set it in combination with automatically provisioning new users using Enterprise logins_

• Reset Users’ Credit Quota to default each semester

How to handle "Quote Exceeded Notifications"

• Both user and administrators are notified via email
• Proactively contact user and offer to help
• Do some detective work to see what they did, Organization → View Status → User
• Once issue resolved, grant them more credits as needed and move on
• Developing your own infrastructure for when ArcGIS Online isn’t enough (Geocoding, analysis, etc.); Very cost-effective when your needs are intense, but not 24/7
