XP Improvement Checks - Genii-Locorum/brp GitHub Wiki

There are two values for the GM to adjust in Game Settings - the dice roll for the skill improvement (e.g. 1D6) and the fixed amount (e.g. 3).

Improvement checks (the rolls, not the tick boxes) will only be available when the GM turns on the Development Phase (see GM Tools).

Single Improvement Checks

There are two options for rolling an Improvement Check - but both work in the same way. With the Development phase on, right click on the skill name, spell name etc to bring up the context menu. If you have an available improvement check (i.e. there is a tick in the box) then there are two options visible:

XP Gain (1D6) XP Gain (3)

The values in the brackets may be different as these are set by the GM. The first option makes the improvement check and if successful improves the skill etc by the rolled dice amount. The second option gives the fixed value improvement if the check is successful. In either case the improvement check box will be unticked after you've made the roll.

There will be a chat message showing the improvements (Green certificates mean a successful improvement, red skulls a fail). The Values listed are the skill/spell score (ignoring category bonuses), the dice roll (after adding XP bonus) and then any improvement (e.g. Command 15-70 +2 means you've rolled 70 against a the skill score of 15 and gained +2 skill)

All Improvement Checks

Rather than selecting all the checks individually you can make the improvement checks en masse. On the "Skills" tab name pull up the context menu and you will see:

All Improvement Checks (1D6)

All Improvement Checks (3)

These work exactly like the single checks but will apply to all skills, spells etc and there will be a single chat message showing all the results.

You can mix and match rolled v fixed improvements. If you only want to make a couple of fixed improvements, roll those singly and then do all the other through the All Improvement (rolled) option. Or vice cersa.
