Skill - Genii-Locorum/brp GitHub Wiki
Start by giving the skill a name and adding a BRPID.
Next choose a skill category from the drop down list - this determines the skill bonus and how the skill is displayed on the character sheet.
There are then a series of options to toggle on or off
- No Experience - if "on" then this skill does not get XP checks
- Specialism - where the skill can have sub-types (e.g. Drive) toggle this on. You will get an extra input box for the specialism name, and an additional toggle "Specialism Chosen" - see below
- Variable Base - toggle this on if the starting base value for a skill is not a fixed value - see below
- Skill Group - toggle this on if this skill is a group of other skills (e.g. Any Knowledge Skill) - see below
- Starter Skill - if "on" then this skill will be automatically added to newly created characters
- Combat Skill - toggle this on for the skill to be available as a combat skill (e.g. Dodge, Brawl, Grapple) but it doesn't use the Combat Skill Category
Scores
For most skills you will enter the base score as a fixed value (e.g. 5). If you've toggled "Variable Base" on then you will be given a series of additional fields where you can choose two characteristics and a multiplier, or "Fixed" and a set value - e.g. DEX * 2 or Fixed +5. You also get to choose whether the two rules add the results together (AND) or take the highest value (OR). If you only want to set one rule (e.g. DEX * 2) then enter "Fixed" and "0" for the second rule.
##Specialism Skills If you want to create a generic specialism skill (e.g. Drive) then toggle "Specialism" on but leave "Specialism Chosen" off. In the specialism skill name enter something like "specify" or "choose". When the skill is added to a character sheet it will ask you to enter the specialism name and will automatically toggle "Specialism Chose" to on.
If you want to create a specialised skill (e.g. Ride Camel) then create a "Ride" skill, select "Specialism" and "Specialism Chosen" and enter Camel in the specialism name. When dropped on to the character sheet you won't be asked to enter a specialism name.
##Skill Group When you toggle this on you will then get a "Skills" box (and the base score is removed). Drag the relevant skills that belong to the group to this box. You can not add a Skill Group directly to a character sheet - but you can add them to Professions, Personalities and Cultures. When these items are added to a character sheet and they have a skill group in them then the player will get to choose which skill from the group they want to add to the character.
When the skill is added to an actor sheet the following information is shown:
- Base Score - the calculated base score
- XP - the amount of XP earned for this skill
- Profession - any profession points spent on this skill
- Personal - any personal points spend on this skill
- Personality - any bonus from the personality item
- Culture - any cultural skill bonuses
- Effects - the impact of any effects
- Total - the sum of the above values
