Here we lay out definitions for terms we use across our documentation so there is no confusion on what game elements are being discussed:

Waves - A period from when the player hits the play button in a level to spawn the next generation of salmon, to when all the salmon have either died or reached the end of the level.

Level - We use level in this case to refer to any of the individual rivers in the game such as the Columbia River. This term encompasses the entirety of loading into the level as well as playing through it.
