Swiss style Pairings - Geekly/fieldmarshal GitHub Wiki

Fieldmarshal uses a pairing system similar to the Swiss-style where players are paired according to similar scores. The variation used here is that instead of a single point score, players are ranked according to tiers, otherwise known as tie-breakers. The priority of the tiers can vary, but the first priority is always win-loss record.

The first round pairing is random, but each successive round uses a point system for pairings.

The available ranking tiers are as follows:

  • Win-Loss record (always used as #1 priority)
  • Strength of schedule (most often used in #2 priority)
  • Army points destroyed
  • Control points captured

After a round concludes, players are ranked according to one or more of the predetermined tiers listed above. Starting with the highest ranked players, they are paired together for the next rounds. Fieldmarshal will allow the user to define the ranking system.
