Strength of Schedule - Geekly/fieldmarshal GitHub Wiki

Strength of Schedule (SOS) is used as a secondary tie-breaker (ranking tier) for calculating the current rankings of the tournament field.

Below are some variations on calculating SOS.

OR - Opponent Record (number of wins opponent has)

OOR - Opponent's opponent record

ROUND - Round number

Consider only the opponent's record without consideration to the round number:

SSO = Sum(OR)

Also consider the record of the opponent's opponent with stronger emphasis on the opponent's record:

SSO = Sum(OR) + Sum(OOR)/(ROUND-1)

Dropping

Drops in a tournament are problematic in that they may negatively affect SOS for players who won their games. A player will be ranked higher if their opponents win their future games. When players drop after losing, any potential wins are not factored in.
