Glossary of some common definitions used in the Wiki

• rankings - The field of players are sorted based on several criteria, including the win-loss record. The ranking is the position of the player in the sorted field of players.
• standings - synonymous with rankings
• field - the entire collection of players in a single tournament
• strength of schedule - SOS is a calculated score that depends on the record of a player's previous opponents.
• pairings - players are matched up at the beginning of each round. The collection of matchups for each round are called pairings.
