Problem definition

Design a device that should be able to collect floating waste and clean the lake without harming other aquatic animals. The device should be able to continuously work for longer hours. The machine should automatically sail, clean, collect garbage and store it .Its weight should not exceed more than 5kg. The device should not cost more than 4,000.

Phase 2: conceptual design

  1. It should collect the waste.
  2. It should move the collected waste into storage bin.

2.1 use case diagrams

System name: Automatic cleaning machine

2.1.1 List the tasks associated with each of the functions as indicated in the use case diagrams

Function 1 1.Collecting waste. Function 2 1.Storing waste in the collector. Function 3 1.Swim’s on the water.

2.2 List the inputs, outputs of the system and represent black box model

2.3 Write the glass box representation of the system in terms of functional block

(represent material, energy and data interactions with different colours)

Task 2.4: complete the morphological chart by exploring the other alternative means of achieving the functions.
