There are two companies who have created something similar to the Weather-Playlist. In 2008 American interface designer Aza Raskin sold the rights to his music meta search tool 'Songza', to Amazon Backed online music store Amie Street (Business Insider 2014). It was then acquired by Google who wanted to integrate it into Google Play. This was to rival other platforms such as Spotify and Apple. Songza was designed to use meta data to create music based on mood and weather. In December 2015 Google Play replaced Songza with general themed playlists (Wired 2015).

Spotify have developed 'Climatune' in association with Accuweather (accuweather 2017). Climatune checks the weather in your location or you can choose an alternative location, and picks songs accruing to their 'most listened to' in any given weather condition. They list Sun, Wind, Clouds, Rain, Snow and Clear Night which will correlate to playlists on Spotify (spotify 2017).
