Graphical User Interface (GUI)

The GUI is important part of computer interaction. It needs to be intuitive and not overload the user with information. GUIs have been around since 1970s, with the first commercial one appearing n the X8010 Star System in 1981. Ishii states that humans find it difficult and struggle to interact with a GUI as its not tangible (Ishii.H 2008). The GUI for the Weather Player is simple only having five elements:

• on off
• volume
• songs
• next song
• output volume meter

This makes the Weather Player easy to use and intuitive.
