"example whiskr" is the template that I'm using at the moment in excel to work everything out. The first line of section length (4.9mm) is the intradermal length. 143.9mm is the total length.

"goldeen1.csv" is the R output for this whisker.

Things I have to do manually are:

• set up the 'example whiskr' template (i can copy and paste from another whisker, but the number of rows changes depending on how long it is)
• find the number of days the intradermal section represents by looking at which row's L.end is closest to 139 mm (24 days) (yellow)
• add 14 days to 24 and then extrapolate that until you get to the max number of days (I add a day onto the end to represent the bit of whisker leftover - so 188 days) (green)
• find the L.ends that are closest to 38 days, 52 days etc. (blue)
• in this case 38 days = 134.8mm, but I can only cut 135mm or 134.5mm, and if I cut 134.5mm, then that is dead on 39 days, so the first section will be 15 days rather than 14 (orange)

Afterwards I work out how many days of each season the extradermal part of the whisker represents, making sure that adds up to total days - intradermal days (188 - 24).

You can also see in the output (goldeen1.csv) that above 100, the L.start and L.end only goes to 1 decimal point, but it should go to at least 2.
