  1. This week I've taken a bit of time to reflect on my game development skills and have tried making a new game through Unity. Currently the project consists of a 2D platformer where you jump from platform to platform without stopping. Unsure if adding a timed response is a good idea. However the implementation might allow for competition between players to see who could get the fastest time possible and make it a bit more interesting as time goes on and players try to compete to achieve the fastest time.

  2. Recently I've picked up a new game on steam called Subnautica: Below Zero. It seemed interesting and having played the first one I decided to pick it up and see how it differed from the original. Firstly the core mechanics seem to be the same as the first, where you must survive nearly completely underwater. However, what's different this time is a applied temperature mechanic that if reached too low would freeze the player and eventually kills the player. Overall as a survival game this series is a very unique since most have you stranded on an island or some random place of land, but this adds the extra mechanic of being stuck in the water which can imply a lot more mechanics with O2 levels, shelter, and dealing with the fauna of the sea.
