“The impact of E-procurement on Supply Chain Performance- Manual (Vs) E-Procurement and its Implementation”

Executive Summary:

I, Kashmira Ganji a student of School of Management Studies, UOH, got an opportunity to carry out my internship project in NMDC limited, as a part of the curriculum. This prestigious organization is one of the Navratnas recognized by Government of India.
During my internship tenure at NMDC, I strived to investigate and study the e-procurement thoroughly. The objective of my project is to highlight the benefits of e-procurement process to the organization in terms of operating costs, improved compliance and quality, more transparency and improved trust among vendors, time constraints like reduced lead time, ease of doing business and innovation in the form of digitalization, more accuracy of data with zero errors. This is a new and exciting area of study with unprecedented benefits if the opportunities are identified and pursued.
In order to achieve the aforementioned objectives, I carried out a thorough preliminary research of entire procurement process. I had a detailed study of existing documents of procurement of Tools and Tackles of Drilling Machine in both Traditional procurement and E-procurement process. I also had the opportunity to study the novice procedure right from indenting of the materials requirement till the purchase of order in various modes of tendering i.e. Global, Open, Single, limited, Rate contract tenders. I also had many number of brainstorming discussions with company executives and Senior Managers mentoring me regarding the indispensible benefits of this system.
This report shows the comparative study explaining the two case studies showing the potential benefits of e-procurement over manual procurement, focusing on the impacts of e-procurement on organizational effectiveness through web service provider MSTC. It also emphasizes on guidance for the NMDC e-procurement through MSTC portal service provider.
