Gen3 Admin Backblaze B2 Backup Setup - GT-Edge-AI/GT-AI-OS GitHub Wiki
Connect GT AI OS portable backups (gt3-portable-backup-v1) to a Backblaze B2 bucket.
Keep Backup & Restore β Object storage open in the Control Panel while you work. Configure bucket connection and credentials entirely in the Control Panel β no command-line tools or repo scripts.
- Create a B2 bucket and note its name and region.
- Create a B2 Application Key (read/write on that bucket only).
- On Object storage: provider Backblaze B2 β fill connection fields β paste keys β Save credentials to cluster β enable Backups β Save Object Storage.
- On the Backup tab: Test bucket (leave Endpoint CA secret empty).
| You need | Example |
|---|---|
| B2 bucket name |
my-gt3-backups (exact name from Backblaze) |
| B2 region |
us-west-004 (in the S3 endpoint URL) |
| Path prefix |
production (logical folder for this deployment; no / at start or end) |
- Sign in to Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage.
- Click Create a Bucket.
- Choose a Bucket Name β you will type this same name in GT AI OS.
- Note the bucket region (for example
us-west-004).
Tip: Open the bucket in Backblaze and copy the S3 Endpoint URL shown there β you will paste it into GT AI OS.
- In Backblaze, go to App Keys (Application Keys).
- Click Add a New Application Key.
-
Name of Key β e.g.
gt3-backup. - Allow access to Bucket(s) β select only your backup bucket.
- Type of Access β Read and Write.
- Click Create New Key.
- Copy and save immediately (the secret is shown once):
-
keyID β paste as Application Key ID in GT AI OS (starts with
003β¦) -
applicationKey β paste as Application Key secret (may start with
K005β¦)
-
keyID β paste as Application Key ID in GT AI OS (starts with
Optional: Backblaze sometimes shows key ID and secret together. You can paste that into Or paste combined Application Key on the Object storage tab instead of the two fields above.
Do not email or chat these values.
Go to Backup & Restore β Object storage.
Select Backblaze B2.
Use the exact labels on the form:
| Form field | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| B2 S3 endpoint URL | https://s3.us-west-004.backblazeb2.com |
From Backblaze β your bucket β S3 Endpoint, or https://s3.<region>.backblazeb2.com
|
| B2 bucket name | your bucket name | Case-sensitive; not the bucket ID |
| B2 region | us-west-004 |
Must match the region in the endpoint URL |
| Path prefix in bucket | production |
Groups this deploymentβs portable archives |
Leave Advanced fields at their defaults unless your installation guide says otherwise.
Paste Application Key ID and Application Key secret (or the combined key), then click Save credentials to cluster.
GT AI OS writes these into the cluster for backup jobs. They are not stored in Settings JSON.
- Check Backups.
- Click Save Object Storage.
- Open the Backup tab (link at the bottom of Object storage, or the Backup tab in the workspace).
- Leave Endpoint CA secret empty β B2 uses public TLS.
- Click Test bucket β should report success.
Optional: Click Run backup now, then confirm a new row in the portable S3 catalog and objects under {pathPrefix}/portable/ in B2.
| Problem | What to check |
|---|---|
| Access denied (403) | Application key is Read and Write on the correct bucket only |
| Wrong endpoint | B2 S3 endpoint URL matches Backblazeβs S3 Endpoint for that bucket |
| Region mismatch | B2 region matches the region in the endpoint URL |
| Credentials not saved | Save credentials to cluster completed before Save Object Storage |
| Timeout | Cluster pods can reach the B2 S3 endpoint (network/firewall/DNS from the GT AI OS host) |
{pathPrefix}/portable/{backupSetId}/gt3-portable-backup-β¦.tar.gz
{pathPrefix}/portable/{backupSetId}/β¦.manifest.json
Test bucket writes a small probe file under {pathPrefix}/gt-ai-os-preflight-β¦.txt.
