Lifecycle: Upgrading via Notebook - GT-Analytics/fuam-basic GitHub Wiki

General

This page describes how to upgrade FUAM to the latest version.

Important:

  • This upgrade will overwrite all the items, which have been delivered by FUAM Basic based on the Item name.

  • In case you, made custom changes in the pipelines, notebooks, semantic models, reports, please make a save copy of these or rename your customized items

  • Please follow the steps and make sure that you backup your workspace items (e.g. with git) before an upgrade

Upgrade process (Gen2)

We have redesigned and automatized the upgrade process of FUAM.

Info: FUAM_Config_Lakehouse is still alive, but you don't need to download the json file any more.

Steps

  1. Delete the old Deployment notebook from your workspace

  2. Download the Deploy_FUAM_Basic_Gen2.ipynb locally to you computer

  3. Import the recently downloaded Deploy_FUAM_Basic_Gen2.ipynb Notebook into your FUAM workspace

  4. Run the Notebook

  5. Run or schedule the Pipeline if needed

Error handling:

Make sure that you are signed-in with a User, which has 'Fabric Administrator' rights on the tenant

Make sure that the SP has granted access for the two tenant settings: 'Service Principals can use Fabric APIs' and 'Service Principals can access read-only admin APIs'

Review the credentials of the connections

Set the 'activity_days_in_scope' to 28, whenever the 'Load_Activities' pipeline got an error

  1. Refresh the semantic model

Error handling:

In case of errors like 'Visual can't be rendered', please visit the Remarks to FUAM wiki page.

Congratulations!

You are using the latest and greatest version of FUAM Basic.
