COSMOS is a state-of-the-art GovCloud infrastructure that provides R&D mission owners the ability to self-onboard, build, and secure AWS Impact Level (IL)-4/5 workloads in minutes. COSMOS provides 200,000% faster onboarding than any other GovCloud environment; a Cloud Native Access Point architecture with Zero Trust that provides accessibility from anywhere, any device; high availability standards; inheritable security through federated DoD M365 tenet identities; continuous monitoring for cloud resources; and on-demand RMF ATO artifact generation to promote a continuous state of cybersecurity awareness and readiness. COSMOS is revolutionizing the way the DoD/DoN does cloud due to the innovative strategies that challenged the status quo of GovCloud, ultimately leading to COSMOS' success as the first GovCloud that mirrors a commercial cloud experience for the Research & Development community, while adhering to DoD/DoN requirements.

This team has worked for the last 5+ years on GovCloud related projects, specifically focusing on how to modernize cloud processes, enable mission owners to develop to the art-of-possible, and automate DoD/DON cybersecurity requirements in cloud. In 2021, the team received a small amount of funding to greenfield a new GovCloud environment to address the challenges across the DoD/DoN with traditional government cloud environments and align with the DON's Cyber Ready Strategic Intent Memorandum.
