Joint Cloud Delivery Community - GSA-TTS/federal-platform-engineering-cop GitHub Wiki
The JCDC has consolidated with the Federal Platform Engineering Community (FPEC). This page is to ensure the content will endure despite the community consolidation and sunsetting of Milsuite collaboration tools in DoD.
The Joint Cloud Delivery Community will create an ecosystem of technologists in the DoD that are building and operating the DevSecOps backbones needed to deliver apps to the cloud. Ultimately, we strive to help make developers more productive, their applications more rapidly able to be delivered, and positively impacting end users. The community allows technologists to share how they are making the most of their cloud capabilities, automating developer infrastructure environments, enabling developer self service, and implementing automation that can better secure platforms and their applications without slowing delivery of software or services. The Joint Cloud Delivery Community will facilitate spreading lessons learned in building modern platforms, adopting modern technology management and procurement practices, and spreading the courage to change. All with a focus of better supporting platform engineering efforts across the DoD.
Goals of the Joint Cloud Delivery Community:
Draw from shared experiences, understand unique restrictions, all to better navigate the numerous product and process options
- Share and determine the best cloud consumption and development models for various DoD customers
- Share baseline Cloud security capabilities while lowering the barrier to ATO/cATO
- Share repeatable security and delivery processes through tailored CICD pipelines capable of multiple endpoint delivery
- Share the automation and and streamlined steps that is reducing cost and schedule for PMOs
- Share code (IaC pipelines) to save time and money across the DoD, as well as allowing each of the platform teams to get further in their roadmap
- Compare the pros and cons of various tools that are of interest to the joint platform community
- Share lessons learned using tools and capabilities to better allow platform teams to more rapidly deploy new tooling
- Allow a place for the government to provide broad, open market research for all platform teams to receive demonstrations from a variety of product vendors
- Identifying and aligning on actions for senior service and DoD leadership to take action upon in order to enable improved digital capabilities

Tech Syncs
We are also hosting recurring JCDC Tech Syncs to provide an open market research venue for DoD technologists and leaders to learn about the digital tools available from industry. Get engaged to learn more about vendor offerings and how they may help your program more rapidly modernize your digital capabilities.
Join
We have not yet identified a platform to allow for dynamic chat between meetings. However we do have a shared and recurring calendar invite. If you would like to be included on that calendar invite, please reach out to Brian Fox ([email protected]) or any of the community leads.
What We Do
The Joint Cloud Delivery Community meets on the (date and time to be determined) for 50 minutes. In each meeting, a presenter will have the opportunity to share experiences, followed by a Q&A session. We will also host lean coffees, allowing for discussions to occur around issues, concerns, and opportunities of the day. This Community allows technical staff and leadership from across DoD to share their experiences and lessons learned implementing platforms and supporting application development and deployment. We aim to help reduce the learning curve associated with individual services and agencies, bureaus, and offices adopting cloud capabilities and DevSecOps practices. The Joint Cloud Delivery Community will allow agencies to learn from one another, sharing technical know-how.
Who We Are
-
Community Co-Lead James "Guideaux" Crocker is CTO of the US Air Force Cloud One.
-
Community Co-Lead Laura Rodriguez is the Deputy Lead for the Gravity Platform at US Space Force's Space Camp software factory.
-
Community Co-Lead Edmond Kuqo is on detail to the Department of Navy CIO & OPNAV on Cloud, Cybersecurity and DevSecOps.
-
Community Co-Lead Dave Raley is the CX Digital Director at Marine Corps Community Service (MCCS). Dave has led the MCCS organization in digital transformation and cloud journey. Dave’s focus has been on is removing the cost of delay focused on process improvements which he estimates saves roughly $100K/application/month in costs. He’s focused on two key areas – authorities to operate (ATO) and acquisition speed/agility. MCCS is now taking IT and turning it into a profit center by offering other commands use of the pipeline for a fee.
-
Community Co-Manager Brian Fox currently supports the digital modernization efforts across the DoD. Prior experience includes 18F, USFS, USGS, NGA, and the US Army.
