Testing a Development Build

Remember, you should only have one "Advanced Profanity Filter" enabled at a time, so don't forget to disable the current version temporarily.

Chrome

  1. Disable the current version of "Advanced Profanity Filter" at chrome://extensions
  2. Load unpacked extension
  3. When you are finished, remove the unpacked extension and re-enable the official version

Firefox

  1. Disable the current version of "Advanced Profanity Filter" at about:addons
  2. Load temporary Add-on
  3. When you are finished, remove the unpacked extension and re-enable the official version

Opera

Testing and Debugging

  1. Disable the current version of "Advanced Profanity Filter" (if one is installed)
  2. Navigate to opera:extensions and click on the "Developer Mode" button
  3. Click the "Load Unpacked Extension..." and direct it to the extracted release directory

Previous Versions

WARNING: This is not recommended or supported. You will miss possible new features and bug fixes. Before trying this, please create an issue if you are having trouble. Old releases are available here on github. They are unsigned and are meant to be loaded as unpacked extensions.

Chrome

  3. Load unpacked extension

Edge

  1. Download a package here on github
  2. Extract the package to a folder and follow the steps here

Firefox

Temporary
  1. Remove the current Add-on (Remember to take a backup)
  2. Download an older release for Firefox here
  3. Load temporary Add-on

NOTE: This will likely have to be repeated each time Firefox runs.

Permanent
  1. Remove the current Add-on (Remember to take a backup)
  2. Add a previous version from the Add-on page
  3. Once installed, make sure to open the Add-on's options page and set Automatic Updates to Off

NOTE: You may be prompted to update the Add-on occasionally, but you shouldn't be forced to update.
