RP7BD - FresnoSubber/Fresno-and-Co.-Trainbuild-Tomfuckery GitHub Wiki

The RP7BD is a weird one. Out of all of Railpower’s products, it was this one that never saw the light of day. My assumption is that it would look something akin to the GK10B "Green Kid". Or something like that. Either way. This was likely meant to compete with NRE’s 1GS7B. However, railroads weren’t stupid and didn’t want anything less than 1000 horsepower for switching, so no RP7BDs were ever built.

Notes:

(1): While most Railpower products use Deutz engines, Cummins engines such as QSK19s were available.

(2): If the above applies to what you’re doing, the horsepower would be increased to 700 Horsepower, as the QSK19s are rated for 700 HP each. The Generator Current would also be 855, as the QSK19 generator set uses the Marathon 572RDL.

(3): Look up the specs of the donor unit for these (Specs are based off of early EMD Switchers).
