The M195B (along with its six-axle counterpart, the M195C) introduced intercooling to EE's North American locomotive catalog, allowing this model to compete with other similar locomotives in the marketplace during its 13 year tenure (ALCo/MLW RS-11/18/32/36 & C420, EMD GP18/20/28/38, GE U23B).

Notes
(1) AAR Type B and Blomberg-B trucks are optional via trade-ins. Generator and traction motor values remain the same.
(2) EE introduced the 548 model traction motor near the end of 1962. Max generator current for this is 1,300A, max TM and DB current is 650A and max continuous TM and DB current is 520A. Phase 2 units came with the 548 as standard but phase 2c units (July 1972-April 1973) had the option to use the 558 traction motor. Therefore, max generator current is 1,350A, max TM and DB current is 675A and max continuous TM and DB current is 540A.
(3) Automatic w/ Selector is optional. Those who want to MU their EEs to anything that uses AAR 27-pin plugs with 100% compatibility are highly encouraged to use this option.
(4) APR + Sand is optional.
(5) 6SL and 24-RL were optional.
