I'm just gonna say this right now. This is completely custom. According to West, you could specify what kind of loco you'd want it to be built similar to or some shit like that (EMD F3 for example) and EE would send out the parts to you to assemble the loco in a custom-made body. This would continue after 1947, most notably with the SAR 900 Class at Islington in 1951, but was a much less used option after that year as EE started standardizing its designs. This is SPECIFICALLY how my fictional railroad, the Shasta Route, would have ordered units similar to EMD E Units and ALCO DL109s. - Alec/FresnoSubber
