v3.5.1 — Bug-fix release

Fixes #81 – #86.

  • Don't move is saved with the settings and kept after a restart — automatic runs no longer move those files (#82)
  • Duplicates are only trashed if the kept copy still has the same content (SHA-256), not just the same size; a hard link is not a second copy (#86)
  • History, staging list and settings are flushed to disk before they replace the old file, so a power cut cannot leave them empty (#83)
  • A file without extension named like a category folder (Others, Documents) is moved first instead of blocking the folder; Undo restores its name (#81)
  • Scanning a folder named like a category (Downloads/Images) no longer plans Images/Images — those files are already in place (#84)
  • Recursive scans skip the target folders of enabled rules, like the category folders (#85)

v3.5.0 — Feature release

Fixes #65 – #76, adds #77 – #80.

  • Don't move: keep single files where they are (Preview: Space, Delete or right-click) — also in later scans and automatic runs of the folder
  • Filter and sort the Preview (Ctrl+F, click a column heading)
  • Rules with several conditions — all must match
  • Export CSV of the scan result (Excel-friendly; file names are never read as formulas)
  • History shows the folder of every run and can open it; Undo last names the run it undoes
  • After an undo, Auto-organize can be paused so it does not sort the files again
  • An unplugged drive at start no longer makes Auto-organize switch to Downloads
  • Changing scan options or rules clears an outdated preview
  • Files removed after the scan are skipped, not errors; no empty folders after failed moves or commits; readable error texts
  • "Open destination folder" only when the folder exists; corrected tooltip and Commit text
  • About twice as fast to start; Ctrl+1–Ctrl+4, F5
  • Regression tests in the repository, GitHub Actions on Windows (Python 3.11 and newest)
  • Debian package (.deb) for Debian 12+, Ubuntu and Simple OS, tested in Debian 12 on every push

v3.4.5 — Bug-fix release

Fixes #52 – #64.

  • rules.json saved as ANSI or UTF-16 no longer stops the app from starting; it is backed up instead
  • rules.json / settings.json with a byte order mark (Notepad, PowerShell) are read correctly
  • Read-only files can be moved to another drive, and never leave a second copy behind
  • Drives that cannot store timestamps (FAT, exFAT, network shares) no longer make moves fail
  • A damaged history file no longer blocks Undo last
  • File systems without file locking no longer report "already running"
  • Junctions are never followed, also with Python 3.11
  • Trash only removes a duplicate if the copy you keep still exists
  • No freeze after trashing many duplicates
  • Extension rules accept .pdf and *.pdf; lists like pdf, docx are refused
  • LibreOffice lock files and the empty placeholder of a running Firefox download are left alone
  • A message on top of a dialog no longer makes the main window clickable
  • First start opens the real Downloads folder, also when it was moved or has a localised name

v3.4.4 — Bug-fix release

Fixes #29 – #51.

  • Moves across drives never leave stray copies or overwrite files
  • Only one instance runs; a second start brings the window to the front
  • Manual and automatic runs are limited separately in the undo history; automatic runs are marked
  • Undo from History asks first; undo still follows files moved by runs that dropped out of the list
  • Runs are numbered — a wrong system clock cannot reorder the history
  • Staging mode does not download online-only OneDrive files
  • Commit / Revert never recreate a renamed or deleted folder
  • Shortcuts (.lnk, .url, .desktop, .webloc) are never moved
  • Category folders that link outside the scanned folder, or are blocked by a file, are reported
  • .ts videos detected by content; new types (HEIC, AVIF, e-books, e-mails) and categories Programs and Disk Images
  • Hard links count once in duplicate detection
  • Unexpected errors: notification, log and error.log
  • Dialogs and notifications always stay above the main window; Recycle Bin questions open above the app
  • Auto-organize shows when the folder is missing; Ctrl+Z in number fields no longer opens Undo
  • A damaged rules.json is never overwritten; settings write failures are reported once
  • Window position restored only on Windows (no creeping window on X11)

v3.4.3 — Bug-fix release

Fixes #14 – #28.

  • The folder containing the exe is organised again (regression in v3.4.2)
  • Online-only cloud files are not downloaded by the duplicate check
  • Large scans keep the window responsive; the log keeps 5 000 lines
  • Undo follows files that a newer run moved again
  • Confirmed unusual folders are remembered, also for Auto-organize
  • Window size, position and maximised state are remembered
  • Linux: per-volume Trash, XDG_CONFIG_HOME / XDG_DATA_HOME
  • Shortcuts work with Caps Lock; warning for C:\Users / /home

v3.4.2 — Safety & reliability release

  • Closing during a task waits for it; history and staging list are written during the run and atomically
  • Undo keeps files it could not restore; a locked rules.json no longer wipes the rules
  • System files, Office lock files and running downloads are never moved; Git repositories and junctions are skipped
  • Confirmation before organising drive roots, home, system folders or Git repositories
  • One task at a time; scheduled runs wait for open dialogs
  • Multi-part extension rules (tar.gz), invalid rule targets rejected, history in local time

v3.4.1 — Bug-fix release

  • Scheduled scans could skip the confirmation for the next manual scan
  • Rules could move files outside the scanned folder
  • "Move to Trash" could delete permanently on drives without a Recycle Bin
  • Staging fixes (organising twice before Commit, failed entries kept)
  • "Undo last" and History always agree

v3.4.0 — UI refresh

  • New layout: folder bar, sidebar, tabs, status bar
  • Light and dark theme with rounded controls, Phosphor icons
  • In-app dialogs and notifications, −/+ number fields, colour-coded log
