Rebuild Driver Packages Catalogue - Flowman/ConfigMgr-Quick-Tools GitHub Wiki

This guide will explain how to rebuild an old catalogue to the Driver Package Manger standard.

NB! As this is a high risk action remember to do a ConfigMgr backup before following this guide.

  1. Navigate to the ConfigMgr Console. If not already running, click Start, type Configuration Manager Console, and then click the Configuration Manager Console icon.
  2. Click Software Library, expand Operating Systems, and select Drivers.
  3. Click on Categories, and then Manage Categories in the ribbon.
  4. Delete every category, and then click OK.

NB! If the old driver packages are used in a task sequence, follow this step to create a cleanup folder.

  1. Click Software Library, expand Operating Systems, and right-click Driver Packages, select Folder, and then click Create Folder.

    1. Name the folder "_Clean-up" and move all existing driver packages to this folder
    2. Remove all folders except of "_Clean-up"
  2. Click on Quick Tools -> Driver Package Importer in the ribbon, and then processed with instructions from Driver Package Importer.

NB! If the old driver packages are used in a task sequence, re-link them to the new packages.

  1. Select the "_Clean-up" folder and remove all old driver packages.
  2. Click Software Library, expand Operating Systems, and select Drivers.
  3. Create search criteria where Categories is empty.

NB! As the Driver Package Manager add categories to all driver, any driver without a category is not used.

  1. Select all drivers that does not have a category, right-click and then select Delete.
  2. Rerun the Driver Package Importer and re-import all driver packages to fix drivers with invalid source location.

NB! If any driver was linked to a boot image, then re-link them and redistribute the boot image.

  1. If everything is still working as it should, remove the old driver filesystem structure.
