The Merling is a water-based origin, significantly limiting your ability to go on land. However, it is still possible to beat the game despite this origin's difficulties. Luckily, the ocean (or any body of water) will aid in your journey to the End.

Spawning In

Upon joining a world, it is very important to make sure that there is visible water in your render distance. Selecting the Merling when you spawn will give you around 18 seconds to get to the nearest body of water as quick as possible.

Finding an Ocean

After spawning in and making your way to the nearest body of water, your best bed will be to try to find an ocean which will become your new home.
