Blazeborn Guide - FlamingTaco113/origins-datapack GitHub Wiki
The Blazeborn is a nether-based origin, which massively changes the game by forcing the player to start in the nether, rather than the overworld
Getting Started
Selecting the Blazeborn Origin will immediately spawn you in the Nether, with no items whatsoever, however, there are a few perks to make your time there easier
Fire Resistance
Giant lava lakes now essentially become oceans, allowing you to traverse them easily
Spawning In
As with a lot of aspects of Minecraft, the difficulty of your beginnings in the Nether will be entirely up to the world seed. Ideally, you want to spawn in a Warped Forest or Crimson Forest biome. These are the only Nether biomes that provide the resources you need to craft tools.
Spawning in a Warped Forest or Crimson Forest
Try to gather as much crimson stem or warped stem as you can, as well as craft wooden tools (a wooden axe and pickaxe) to help you gather more resources
Spawning in a Basalt Delta or Soul Sand Valley
Try to locate a Crimson Forest or Warped forest as soon as possible, as Soulsand Valleys and Basalt Deltas have nothing of value to you at this time
Food
Mushroom Soup
After acquiring crimson stems or warped stems, craft wooden bowls, as your best friend in terms of food in the nether is likely going to be mushroom soup. While exploring your surroundings, locate and collect as many mushrooms as you can, and remember, you do not consume the bowl with mushroom soup, so ideally you should only need one bowl and craft mushroom soup whenever you need to eat.
Porkchops
While restoring more hunger points, acquiring porkchops is much more difficult and dangerous. Porkchops are dropped by hoglins, the main inhabitants of the Crimson Forest biome, however they deal lots of damage, which can easily kill you due to the lack of armor. The main method to get porkchops is by make a three block high pillar to put yourself just out of reach of the hoglins
However, what makes Porkchops less reliable as a food source than mushroom soup is the need to cook them. The only place where you can get coal in the Nether is in fortresses from Wither Skeletons, or using Blaze Rods. Alternatively, you can use sticks to cook the porkchops, but it is very inefficient.
New Tools
After grabbing some planks and acquiring a crafting table, try to find blackstone, the Nether's Cobblestone. This will allow you to significantly upgrade your tools.
Armor
When you can, mine nether gold ore around the area and try to create any armor piece from gold. This will turn the Piglins from foes to friends.
Finding a Home
Try to locate a nether waste biome to build your home, and crave into the side of a wall. Nether Wastes do not house many hostile mobs, with the main hostile mobs you will be encountering being Ghasts and Piglins (if not wearing gold armor). Like Villagers, Piglins are able to open doors and enter your living space, which can become especially problematic when opening chests, as it will anger the Piglins letting them come into your home and kill you. Luckily, they are unable to open fence gates, so just surround your front door with a fence and fence gate, or just replace your door with a fence gate.
Respawning at Home
It is recommended to craft a Respawn Anchor as soon as possible, as it will allow you to spawn in your Nether base and not have to trek back from the Nether spawn.
While obtaining glowstone is fairly simple, obtaining crying obsidian can pose to be more of a challenge. Luckily there are two main methods in obtaining crying obsidian
Methods on Obtaining Crying Obsidian
Method 1: Piglin Bartering (Easiest)
By bartering with Piglins, there is an 8.71% chance to get 1-3 crying obsidian, meaning that it likely will cost around six gold ingots to get them to drop crying obsidian.
Method 2: Bastion Remnant Looting (Difficult)
By looting Bastions Remnant, there is a 19% chance to get crying obsidian as one of the items in a chest, however it is a very low amount. Including the dangerous nature of Bastion Remnants this method is not recommended.
Method 3: Mining Crying Obsidian at Ruined Portals
Ruined Portals will often have crying obsidian as part of the structure, however they require a diamond pickaxe or higher to obtain. As well, chances are if you found a diamond pickaxe (in a Bastion Remnant) then you can easily leave the Nether if you found a ruined portal by mining the obsidian and repairing the portal or relocating it to your Nether base, making this method obsolete.
Escape
Your main goal that you are trying to reach is to escape the Nether as fast as possible. While benefiting your specific origin, it is very difficult to progress here in terms of armor or items. Luckily there are multiple methods.
Gathering Obsidian:
In order to make a Nether Portal to escape, you will require at least 10 Obsidian, however obtaining that 10 obsidian can be a difficult process.
Method 1: Chest Looting
By looting different structures found throughout the Nether, it is quite easy to obtain a large amount of obsidian in a short amount of time. Looting Nether Fortresses, Bastion Remnants and Ruined portals are likely your best bet to obtain the 10 obsidian you need to leave the nether.
Method 2: Piglin Bartering
By bartering with Piglins, there is an 8.71% chance to have Piglins drop only one obsidian. This means that you would likely need over 115 gold ingots to get the amount of obsidian you need
Method 3: Finding a Diamond Pickaxe in a Bastion Remnant
If you happen to be lucky enough and find a diamond pickaxe in a Bastion Remnant, you can simply use it to mine Ruined Portals to create the needed portal.
Exiting the Nether
With your newfound obsidian, create the Nether Portal and get to the overworld!
