Troubleshooting: Login with NexusMods failed - FelisDiligens/Fallout76-QuickConfiguration GitHub Wiki

How do I login with my API key?

If nothing works and the login fails, you can try to login with your API key instead.

1. Get your API key

Open the API page.
If the link doesn't work: On NexusMods, click on your account profile in the top-right corner and then click on "Site preferences". From there, select the "API" tab.

Scroll down until you see the tool and click on "REQUEST AN API KEY":

A question will popup. Click on OK:

Now you have your key:

2. Log in with key

Copy the key and paste it into the textbox:

Note: If you can't see this textbox, click on the link "Login doesn't work? Click here to use your API key instead."

After that, click on "Log in with key":

That's it.

Why does the normal login fail?

I haven't tested it on Windows 8.1, but on Windows 10, it should work.
If it doesn't work the first time, you could try again. If doesn't work at all, well, please file a bug report.

Are you using Windows 7 or older?

If your operating system isn't supported, then the tool will show you this message:

This is because, the WebSocket library, that my tool is using, doesn't support Windows 7 and older.
I don't know why, but for some reason, the older operating systems are always giving me headaches.
I'm sorry, folks.

Do you see a red error message on the web page?

If you see an error message like this:
https://i.imgur.com/BTizpK2.png
that means that the tool was able to connect to the NexusMods servers, but something went wrong afterwards.
It's most likely a bug in my tool rather than an issue with NexusMods' servers.

If you see this error message, please file a bug report on my tool.
