Concept
Pokemaniac is a social network for Pokémon card fans. There is a real and growing market around Pokémon cards:
According to the Guinness World Records, the most expensive Pokémon card ever sold in a private deal is, for now, the Illustrator Pikachu card, PSA grade 10. It was traded for ,275,000 or €4,477,146.

According to an article by CNEWS (April 2023), over 50 billion Pokémon cards have been sold worldwide since 1996.
It is estimated that millions of people buy and sell Pokémon cards each year.
Some collectors wait years before opening a pack, just to preserve the cards in mint condition. Sales on platforms like eBay and Leboncoin are booming.
However, many collectors and buyers often feel anxious about card authenticity. Most of them gather on forums or social media groups like Facebook or Reddit — but there is no dedicated social network for Pokémon card trading!
Who are Pokémon card collectors?
The most common collector profile is someone who played with Pokémon cards during their childhood or teenage years, and is now an adult between 20 and 40 years old. These users are already comfortable spending money on their passion, making them great candidates for subscribing to an app that enhances their collecting experience.
There’s clearly a real market opportunity here. The goal of reaching 1 million daily users should therefore be easily achievable.
The purpose of Pokemaniac is threefold:
- First, to allow collectors to connect with one another, share transactions, comment, and like each other’s cards and deals.
- Second, to let users use Pokemaniac as a digital library to track and manage their Pokémon card collection.
- Third, to eventually add a secure Marketplace feature, enabling users to buy and sell cards with safe, in-app transactions.
Business model options:
- A monthly or yearly subscription model (e.g. €10/month or €100/year)
- Ad placement within the newsfeed (potentially tied to subscription tiers)
- A markup/commission on secure transactions in the Marketplace
