General

NOTE: This is a work in progress!

Vine Helper has 5 tabs located at the top of the Configuration page. These tabs are called General, Auto-sorting, "Brenda", Styles, and ? (question mark). This page is dedicated to the "General" tab.

UUID

UUID stands for "unique user identification". This is the unique ID that is associated with your device. It's the equivalent of a username used to distinguish users in an anonymous manner. If you have multiple devices you can select this ID and copy/paste it into the UUID field on another device. This will keep your user experience synced across devices.

Note: For hidden items to sync across devices you need to have Store hidden items remotely selected.

Pagination also at the top

Selecting Pagination also at the top adds a second row of forward/backwards and page number buttons at the top of the queue.

Hidden tab

When activated, the hidden tab system will add a tab named "Hidden" above the item listing. This will also add icons and links to allow you to move item tiles to the hidden tab so they are no longer cluttering the main listing.

By default, the hidden items are stored locally on your computer. If you use Vine Across multiple devices, you may decide to enable store hidden items remotely.

Store hidden items remotely

This option will let the server store your items and use that list to decide which items should be hidden on a page. The main use of this feature is for members using Vine on multiple devices, allowing them to share the same list of hidden items across all their devices.

In order for multiple devices to share the same remote list, you need to set (copy) the same UUID across all devices. This way the server will see all devices as the same user.

Technicalities:

  • The locally stored list is still used, but the server list is applied as a 2nd pass.
  • No synchronization between the local and remote list is currently implemented. This means that only items that are shown or hidden after this option is enabled, will be stored on the server. Your pre-existing local list will not be uploaded.

Share community data

This option will allow Vine Helper to share data pertaining to the community features:

  • ETV values
  • Order status (success vs failure)
  • Items description and thumnbnail URL

Note: Vine Helper only shares data pertaining to Amazon Vine. It does NOT share personal data, browsing data, etc.

Display ETV in toolbar

ETV means "Estimated Tax Value", which is the amount users in certain countries will be taxed upon. If enabled, the extension will show an estimated range of ETV value that was shared by the community.

Note: ETV is not pertinent to all countries. It is mainly tax data for USA users.

Display "First seen" time over the image

This feature will display approximately how long it has been since Vine Helper's server was first made aware that an item existed.

Remember:

  • It is based on the first time a Vine Helper user queries the home server about an item, not the time it was actually published.
  • Items cycle through members and queues. For example: it is possible people have seen the item in their RFY queue days earlier but the item just appeared in your AI queue. The first time seen will be a few days old, despite the item only just being made available to you.

Bookmark feature

The bookmark feature will add a button next to the pagination. This button will save the current date and time, representing the last time you browsed the list. You need to set your bookmark manually. Then when you come back later and refresh your page, all the items which were reported to the server since you set your bookmark will be highlighted in yellow.
