NOTE: This tutorial is outdated since this particular message should no longer be shown on startup as of v0.7.

Solution 1

If you see this message when launching Freelancer: HD Edition, follow these steps:

  1. Download the following zip file: flplusplus_no_savegame_hooks.zip.
  2. Extract the zip file inside the EXE folder of your HD Edition installation directory.
    1. This should replace the existing flplusplus.dll in this folder.

Solution 2

If you still experience this issue after following the above steps, try this:

  1. Inside the EXE folder of your HD Edition installation directory, open the dacom.ini file.
  2. Inside this file, below [Libraries] on line 35, you should have flplusplus.dll.
  3. Simply put a semicolon in front of this line; so it should now look like ;flplusplus.dll.
  4. Save the file and exit.

Alternative solution

If the above didn't help, it might be possible that the game doesn't have permission to read/write any save files. Try running Freelancer: HD Edition as an administrator. If this doesn't help either, please contact us on Discord with the link mentioned above.
