Transition Card Activity Report
Overview
The Activity Report provides data about the dynamics of the solution ecosystem over time.
It shows initiative activity data for a selected Transition Card between two selected dates, including:
- Total Transition Card Initiatives, additions and removals
- Initiative Characteristics activity (Comments with Actual status)
- Additional activity to Initiative Characteristics (New Comments with Actual status) within a date range
1. Total Transition Card Initiatives
These cells (Row 6) capture the changes to the number of initiatives on a selected Transition Card between selected dates. The following data is captured:
- Initiatives beginning of period: The total number of initiatives at the start of the date range.
- Additions: The total number of initiatives added within the date range.
- Removals: The total number of initiatives removed within the date range.
- Initiatives end of period: The total number of initiatives at the end of the date range (= the total number of initiatives at the beginning of the date range, add additions during the date range, minus removals during the date range).
2. Initiative Characteristics Activity
These cells (Rows 7 and below, and Columns B-E) capture the changes to the total number of InitiativeCharacteristics with comments that have Actual status on a selected Transition Card between selected dates. The following data is captured:
- Characteristics beginning of period: The total number of Initiative Characteristic comments saved with Actual status across all Initiatives at the start of the date range.
- Additions: The total number of Initiative Characteristic comments saved with Actual status across all initiatives within the date range.
- Characteristics end of period: The total number of Initiative Characteristics with comments saved with Actual status at the start of date range + additions.
3. Additional Initiative Characteristic comments activity
Additional Initiative Characteristic comments saved with 'Actual' status are shown in Column E – 'New comments saved assigned Actuals' (Rows 7 and below). Column E captures any 'Saved New Comment' activity that has been saved against an already recorded comment saved with Actual status within the date range. This enables users to see when an Initiative Characteristic is being addressed in a new way (see Saved New Comments) within the date range.
Saved Comment data included in Activity Report
There are two ways to save comment data:
- Updating Existing Comment – this is not included in Activity Report data.
- Save New Comment – this is included in Activity Report data.
1. Updating Existing Comment
Updating Existing Comment is used to edit or update an existing comment when the way an initiative is addressing a characteristic has not changed. This will edit the comment details in the history but the original date that it was entered will remain unchanged and no activity is recorded in the Activity Report. Updating Existing comments is used when rewording comments or adding additional information to a comment.
Note: Updating Existing Comment updates are not included as any activity data in the Transition Card Activity Report.
2. Save New Comment
Save New Comment is used when you are entering new data about how an Initiative Characteristic is being addressed. This is used when how the characteristic is being addressed is fundamentally different to how it was being addressed in the previous saved comment and is more than a change to the wording. Saved New Comments with Actual status are recorded in the Activity Report.
Note: SaveNew Comments with Actual status are included in the Activity Report, both as Additions and Save New Comment assigned Actual as described above.
Insights from this report
The Activity Report may be used to:
- Show changes to the number of initiatives in your solution ecosystem over a selected period of time.
- Highlight gaps in effort by summarising the total initiatives that have included each of the Initiatives Characteristics across the nine Focus Areas and 36 characteristics.
- Highlight those initiatives characteristics that may need strengthening.
- Show those characteristics that are being addressed by many initiatives.
- Show how initiatives are addressing an Initiative Characteristic in a new way via comment updates during a selected time period.
