ActiPASS accelerometer default orientations - Ergo-Tools/ActiPASS GitHub Wiki
Placement
ActiPASS expects accelerometers to be worn on the front of the mid-thigh position vertically aligned as seen in the picture.
Axivity AX3
-
Label side outwards and the arrow pointing downwards (towards feet). The USB port also points downward for AX3 devices. This means X-axis is pointing downward towards the foot and the z-axis goes towards skin. Please note that this orientation is different from original Acti4 recommended orientation.
Axivity AX6
-
Label side outwards and the arrow pointing downwards (towards feet). The USB port points upwards for AX6 devices.
ActivPAL devices
-
Follow the manufacturer recomended orientation (label side outwards with human figure upright see picture (copyright) below).
ActiGraph GT3X+ and wGT3X+
-
See the picture (copyright) below.**
SENS Motion or MOTUS system with SENS Motion sensor
-
For SENS Motion system: Follow recommended sensor placement. In the SENS Motion system, sensors are placed at the side of the thigh. This means, ActiPASS, for each batch, will prompt the user which thigh (right or left) the sensor was placed and do an axes-transformation such that raw-data appears to come from a front-thigh-worn sensor.
-
For MOTUS (former SurPASS) system: Sensor should be worn on the front of the mid-thigh position. Follow the guideline of the MOTUS app. No further user input is needed.
Movisens Move 4 series
-
For Movisens Move 4: Both front-thigh placement or Move 4 original placement is supported. Make sure to place sensor such that label side is outward and letter 'm' is closer to the foot as seen in the pictures. For each batch, ActiPASS will ask the user how the sensor was placed and carryout an axes-transformation.
ActiPASS Generic CSV format
- The orientations should be similar to Axivity devices. This means X-axis is pointing downward towards the foot and the z-axis goes towards skin. See the source code for instruction on how the CSV file should be formatted.
