E4L LED Midi Relay - EnvelopSound/EnvelopForLive GitHub Wiki

The E4L LED MIDI Relay forward MIDI events from Ableton session clips or arrangement to the EnvelopLX application in real-time. Three checkboxes enable selection of which types of MIDI events are forwarded: Notes, Control Change and Pitch Bend messages. The MIDI Output Channel field determines which channel MIDI events are sent on.

Any MIDI that occurs in a clip or arrangement will be immediately forwarded.

Note: EnvelopLX does not support other MIDI message types, such as Program Change, RPN/NRPN parameters or SysEx. These MIDI events will simply be ignored.

MIDI triggers in EnvelopLX

MIDI events forwarded by the E4L LED MIDI Relay will be sent to the active pattern on any MIDI-enabled channel within EnvelopLX. In order to enable MIDI events on a channel, enable the MIDI Monitor toggle (signified by the musical note icon).

In the example below, we see this enabled on a single channel which houses an instance of the Flash pattern, which can generate an pulse of light with shaped attack and delay envelope controls in response to MIDI notes.

Host Specification

At the bottom of the device the appropriate Host should be specified, matching the location and port of the EnvelopLX application.

EnvelopLX OSC

Note: 0.0.0.0 in EnvelopLX corresponds to all addresses, and will receive messages sent to localhost when running both programs on a single machine.
